Bows-N-Bears Baby Quilt

About two weeks ago, I began piecing together a baby quilt using the BowTie block. When I got the blocks joined and the border on, I wasn't totally satisfied with it. Something was missing and I couldn't figure it out. I put posts out to some Quilting Groups on FB for suggestions and got many. So I set the top aside for a week and worked on some other projects. Yesterday, this top decided to 'talk' to me. I wanted flowers in the white space and was thinking of trying to free-motion them on. Something NEW for me to attempt. However, the top had other ideas......it wanted some balance between the blocks and the border. So, I cut out some flowers from the extra border fabric and machine appliqued them onto the white space of the blocks.  I free-motioned a loopy pattern all over, (which is a first time attempt for me) purposely not stitching over the flowers to give them a poufy look.  I think it turned out pretty well.  :o)

UFO's

Have been working on reducing my UFO (UnFinished Objects). These were originally made to be a twin size quilt, however it's been sitting in my UFO pile for years. Intended daughter  decided she no longer liked it and neither did I. So, I finally pulled it out and after looking at it and looking at it, I cut the top in half and created HIS N HERS Lap Quilts. :) His has the dark blue backing and hers has the daisy backing. :o)

American Made!

This is the most recently finished Lap Quilt in the Patriotic series. Portrait of Americana.  As I was putting this one together, it just didn't jive for me. However, now that it's done, I am beginning to like it a little more. :)

Back to school!

Hi everyone. Well, Roni is back at school. She's attending Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Go Fighting Scots!!   Meanwhile I finished up a Patriotic Lap Quilt. This was really really easy. 5 strips 10 1/2 x 32 1/2. 1 1/2 sashing and 3 1/2 border.  Finished size is approx 40 x 60. Have another lap quilt on the table, almost done.

Current projects

Right now my youngest, Roni and I have been working on some baby quilts. Hopefully to have enough done by May for the festival. She's home on spring break so she's helping me a little. The one I'm working on now is a Bow tie Pattern in Pink and White. I'll post pictures as soon as it's done!

Ocean Oddball

This is the Disappearing Four pattern. I finished it March 11 2012.
